J Matthew Saunders
AI Ambassador at amazee.io
I’m J. Matthew Saunders—an experienced technology leader, longtime Drupal contributor, and neurodiversity advocate. I’ve spent more than two decades helping organizations embrace digital transformation, streamline operations, and build inclusive, human-centered systems.
Right now, I’m working with amazee.io as part of their leadership team on AI and open-source strategy—specifically focused on driving the future of DrupalAI. I’m helping to shape both the tooling and the ecosystem, including building compliance and playground demos, supporting the Drupal AI initiative, and collaborating with partners across the community.
I’ve been active in the Drupal community for over 18 years, not just through client work but as a hands-on contributor and organizer:
• Co-founder and current chair of Drupal Colorado LLC and Drupalcamp Colorado (18 camps and counting)
• Co-founder of the Drupal Event Organizer’s Working Group
• Former board member of the Drupal Association
• Session selection, Code of Conduct Contact, contribution credit coordination, and D.O. coordinator for DrupalGovCon
• Planning team member for DrupalCon Denver
• Speaker and keynote at 30+ events, including 11 DrupalCons
• Co-maintainer of Drupal contrib modules, especially around DrupalAI
• Meetup organizer and frequent volunteer at DrupalCons
• Code of Conduct representative
Before amazee.io, I was a Director at Pfizer, where I led AI-driven initiatives that reduced dev time, scaled agile delivery by 500%, and improved user engagement on global platforms used in 69 countries.
Outside of work, I’m focused on reshaping how tech views neurodivergence. I mentor, speak, and collaborate with organizations like NEXT for Autism to help teams recognize and embrace neurodiverse talent. I also run the YouTube series My Neurodivergent Brain and led internal podcasts at Pfizer focused on inclusion and innovation.
At the core of my work is a commitment to Universal Design—creating spaces where different ways of thinking are seen as strengths. If you’re working on something that connects tech, accessibility, and community, let’s talk.
New to AI in Drupal? This beginner-friendly training is for editors, site builders, and product leads. You’ll install and configure Drupal AI on a clean site using the amazee.ai Advanced Drupal Skills AI Demo, then use prompt-driven workflows for summarisation, translation, metadata enrichment, and CKEditor assistance. We’ll keep it practical and privacy-aware, with clear guidance on accessibility, bias mitigation, and transparent practices.
You’ll also get a 40-page, plain-language Drupal + AI manual as part of the session, including step-by-step setup, prompt and workflow recipes, accessibility and bias checklists, and an organisation-ready pilot plan.
By the end, you’ll have working examples you can reuse, a simple checklist for evaluating use cases, and a plan to pilot AI safely inside your organisation. No developer background required, just a laptop and a willingness to try things.
