Chris Weber
Drupal Support Manager at Velir
Currently working for Velir as a Drupal Support Manager, working on long term projects. Long time advocate for both Drupal and a componentized development methodology.
Years ago, I was a frequent competitor in the overnight website challenge (OWC), where teams of 10 full-hearted developers joined with non-profits to build the best website they could within 24 hours. My team, Drupal Rocks, used Drupal as our tool of choice. Although we celebrated our handful of successes in the challenge we were marred by our several incomplete efforts, always looking for ways to improve our process so that we could increase our success rate. Success meant a great website for a deserving non-profit, so this meant something real.
Although it's been years since OWC called teams to participate, officially ending in the 2010s, I've always been trying to refine the process so that if we were to ever try again, we would succeed. And now, I think I have the winning recipe.
In this talk I'll talk about:
- The tools you'll need and others you'll want
- Recent attempts and how it went
- After event care and what it takes to maintain a site.
Hey. let me know if you want me to upload slides ahead of time for you to evaluate. Yea this talk includes a bunch of AI stuff that I've been working on. All of it helps the OWC process.
