Beyond Decoupled: Drupal Canvas, Astro & Cloudflare at Scale

Headless Drupal has often come with tradeoffs: editors lose flexibility, developers build duplicate systems, and deployments become increasingly complex.

In this session, we'll demonstrate a modern architecture that combines Drupal CMS and Drupal Canvas for content management with an Astro frontend deployed on Cloudflare's Developer Platform. Editors retain a visual page-building experience while developers benefit from Astro's performance, component architecture, and static generation capabilities.

Using real-world client projects delivered during the past year, we'll walk through the architecture, explain how Drupal and Astro communicate, discuss deployment pipelines, caching strategies, authentication, search, image optimization, and preview workflows, and share the lessons we learned along the way.

You'll leave with a practical blueprint for building highly performant Drupal experiences without sacrificing editorial usability.
