After several years of experience as both a designer and developer, Michaela joined the Aten team in 2016. Michaela always had an interest in making the world a better place and giving back to the community through volunteering as well as advocating for physical and digital ADA compliance. Now she uses her professional background and her passion for inclusivity to bring awareness and solutions to digital ADA compliance as Aten Design Group's Senior Accessibility & QA Lead.
Michaela writes and speaks about accessibility and inclusive digital experiences, has completed a number of accessibility trainings, and is certified as a Web Accessibility Specialist through the International Association of Accessibility Professionals, Web Accessibility Specialist (IAAP - WAS).
Join Aten's Senior Accessibility and QA Lead as she guides you through collaborating with Aten's design team using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and client branding to create accessible, usable website designs. She'll explore the six most common design issues based on the latest WCAG standards. After the session, attendees will:
- Understand key areas to focus on when creating accessible website designs
- Recognize how these issues relate to specific WCAG guidelines
- Learn strategies to avoid these issues in future projects
